S2 device 'crashing' when requesting image to set ROI

So, new S2 installed (in UK - replacing one that suffered the O2 inflicted network death). I requested an image upload to set ROI… at night. it uploaded to be fair. When I’ve repeated the request in daylight hours, the process never completes and the device seems to lose its network connection - it seems to still count, but shows in the dashboard as not communicating. Device is Telraam - Eagle Brow
Power cycling fixes the issue (albeit with no ROI set).

Hi @Andy_O

Thanks for letting us know. I have looked at the logs for this device, and unfortunately (as we’ve found in the past) the network connectivity in your area is very limited.

I can see that although the device is connecting, it is on the absolute lower limit of our signal strength requirements - here are the signal values for the last few times it has connected:

Sadly, it should really be 60+ (out of 100) for decent connection, and ideally much higher.

While a limited connection should not affect the small packages we send with data, the ROI setting requires a much bigger data transfer for the image, so it will stall and possibly cause the device to think it has lost all connection.

We are working on some tech solutions to avoid some of these issues, but there is not much we can do about signal strength. I suggest you might like to try again either early or late (when networks are less congested but there is enough light for the setting), but be on hand in case it fails and needs a reboot.

I’ve managed to set the ROI for this device - the light was already low so I hope this is an appropriate setting, but we can expand it a little if needed

Fab. thanks. I’ve managed to mess it up by thinking I could see the ROI / image, but of course that causes it to download again… doh. Will arrange a reboot if needed.
update - got away with it!
