Night counting only cars

What exactly is the S2 device counting after dark?
Is it a combination of all cycles/pedestrians and cars?

We are primarily interested in cars and trucks. What if I configure the device to ignore cyclists and pedestrians. Are they ignored during dark hours too?

Night counts are based on lights, so we are counting objects that are moving along the street and create a “light streak” as they travel.

As our system is camera based, we need to be able to “see” objects in order to classify them, so if it is too dark, we can “see” the lights, but not distinguish between bike / car / truck and so we create a new category for all this activity: Night

In practice it will be usually be largely vehicles, so if you live on a very busy car traffic road, it is likely that the bicycle lights will be less visible and the counts will be almost exclusively vehicle traffic. Would that apply to you?

However, if you live on a quiet road for car traffic but lots of bikes and your device is reasonably close to that traffic, you can see that it still works for bikes too (see this as an example):
