I have set up a Telraam account (guenterh.lists@bluewin.ch).
The dashboard offers me the option of setting up a Telraam device. However, I would like to use and evaluate the existing sensors in Basel (not set up by myself)
Data Pool is really a product designed for transport professionals. The idea is that where there are already a number of devices in a local area, either in other networks or owned by individuals, officials may decide to subscribe to the data feeds rather than have to buy and deploy duplicate devices. It also means that research institutions or other organisations that need sample data from a variety of locations, can access full ‘premium’ data without having to add new devices even if they are not based there.
The way it works is that the professional customer sets up their own Telraam network (with or without their own fleet of devices) where they are also able to add the feeds for selected devices (this is a paid service). They DO NOT have access to the user details for these devices, or to administer / modify those devices, they only have access to the data results.
[note, if they subscribe to an individual’s device, then that individual will also get access to the premium data package even if they did not pay for it themselves]
If you simply want to look at the Open Data results (which are those that are published on the web pages for each of the devices) for Basel, then you can either browse each page, or do this via the API.
If you want to do data analysis on the devices, then the API solution is the best, and you can find the full documentation and instructions here: https://telraam-api.net/
Thank you very much for your reply – I am slowly beginning to understand a little better how to use telraam’s services.
About the data pool
When does one become a transport professional?
We are an association (https://gruenesuperblocks.ch – sorry, only in German) that campaigns for transport reform in Basel and other Swiss cities. Our group is very diverse (urban planners, architects, software developers, etc.). I think we should reach the threshold to become transport professionals, don’t you?
Perhaps you can think again about who can and should use this service and how?
About the API
It would be great if we could use the open data from the already installed sensors in Basel via the API. I think it’s great that you are pursuing an open data strategy. I had already looked at the swagger API before, and now I’ve been back to https://telraam-api.net
The problem is that I don’t have an API key! And without this key, I can’t retrieve any data – or am I missing something?
Question: How do I get this key?
And one more thing again: we are willing to pay for telraam’s services - either the data pool or the API!
Best regards from Basel and thank you for your response.
This is not a sales channel, but a support and learning one, so if you want to chat about signing up for a paid service, I will send you a DM with my direct email.
To answer your question, you become “professional” when you see enough value in the data that you are willing and able to pay for it .
If you think that you need this data and are willing to invest in a network, then we are more than happy to work with you. We simply differentiate between what we offer as a ‘professional’ (paid for) service, and the devices we sell without subscription to support individuals who are campaigners.
If you want your (free) API key, then it is very simple. Go to your dashboard (once you have an account and log in) and on the bottom left of the menu is your profile. Here you can find or generate your API key. This will know what devices and data you have access to. (see more here: You wish more data and statistics? Using the Telraam API)
As I say, if you need more than this then do get in touch and we can arrange a more specific solution
