Configured to ignore pedestrians, but device is still counting them

Yesterday I have configured the camera to ignore pedestrians, because it can only see the ones walking on the opposite side. So the results won’t make sense.

However, to my surprise today the device started counting pedestrians. Did I configure something wrong?

Hi @groot

It is not possible to configure the S2 device to ignore pedestrians. It will detect and classify the objects it sees.

The street profile you have edited is more for reference, We use this to understnad the profile of different streets, and in some ways to group similar ones together so you can compare your data with other similar streets around the world.

If you can’t see the pedestrians on one side, this is something to bear in mind when analysing your data. If you are part of a network, this is something you could discuss with the network manager so they are aware.

If you are doing this for your own interest, you can still use this data. You can capture the data for pedestrians on the far side, then do a series of manual counts of pedestrians on each side at different times of day. This will give you an understanding of how your recorded data compares to the “ground truth” and in that case you simply use a multiplier to get a better view of total pedestrian numbers.

For example, if you see that the Telraam data is usually 50% of the ‘true’ number for both sides, then you can get a good approximation by doubling your pedestrian numbers in any report you make.

Does that make sense?
